Tour d’Elegance — the new route
The Tour is not running to Big Sur this year. Working with CHP, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office and CAL FIRE as the Timber Fire grew, organizers rerouted the Tour to stay in Pebble Beach and Monterey — "We quickly came to this decision because we don't want to impact the efforts of firefighters in any way," Concours Chair Sandra Button told Monterey County Now ↗. The revised route: out of the forest to Highway 1 north through Monterey, Highway 68 east past the airport, then back over the Jacks Peak backroads — Olmsted, Monhollan and Aguajito Roads — and home through the forest to the coastal run of 17-Mile Drive. Free to watch from the roadside.
No Big Sur leg this year — Highway 1 is closed for the Timber Fire. The Tour starts and finishes at Portola Road & Stevenson Drive in Pebble Beach and stays on the peninsula the whole way. Free to watch; further changes will be posted on Pebble Beach's own updates page ↗.
